It's the 150th anniversary of the Commonwealth of Canada and to celebrate a number of breweries have created a bevy of brews. Are they good? The barkeeps crack open a few to find out.

Featured in this episode is Moosehead Anniversary Ale, Black Creek Historical Brewery's Canada 150 Best Bitter Ale and a collaboration between Central City Brewers and Garrison Brewing Company's called "New" Scottish Ale.

Also featured, some talk about sports (sports??? Is that a typo??? It's not????? Okay...) Opie directing Han Solo and David gets ticks. Typical show, really...

After ANOTHER long, long, long hiatus, the barkeeps are back. For good. You can't keep a good barkeep down.

Or these two, either.

Dave and Jeremy sample Muddy York Pale Ale and Collective Arts Prophets and Nomads. They talk poop, they talk strikes... they talk...

The try to pronounce words...

It's all canon.

Welcome back.

Drink along, don't drink alone.

Episode 40

After more than a year, the Barkeeps sit down in a backyard astride one of the world's natural wonders to bring you the return of DrinkAlong.

Yes. DrinkAlong. Ask your parents about it. It was a thing.

In a triumphant return to form, Dave and Jeremy show that they're not too old to gripe about all manner of subjects ranging from possums to busting ghosts to perils of cold water amidst the ravages of time. Is 2016 the worst year ever for celebrity deaths? Was that a cat eating a raccoon?

Along the way they drink not one, not two, but THREE amazing beers.

Belly up and put on those headphones.

It's time to DrinkAlong.

Don't drink alone.

Yes, it's been awhile since you last heard from the Barkeeps... Rest asured, Dave and Jeremy are doing just fine.

This DrinkAlong LIVE was recorded in March 2015 at the SoCap Theatre with very special guest Brian Froud. You might know him from his many, many, many voices on cartoons ranging from Jimmy Two-Shoes to Total Drama.

We're going to try some beer from Double Trouble Brewing and talk video games and The Thermals. All good stuff.

Some notes about the sound... it's not great, but we've done our best to correct that. There was a group of six idiots talking through the start of the show.

Just for future reference, if you're at a place called the SOCIAL CAPITAL THEATRE you might want to consider not being dicks and talking during a performance. It's a theatre, not a rec room, you stupid hipster douches. I don't care if the show you saw prior was an insuferable bore... DrinkAlong is for sitting quietly and enjoying.

Anyway, they leave pretty quickly...

But you should stick around and enjoy Dave, Jeremy and Brian.

DrinkAlong, don't drink alone.

Last Fall Dave & Jeremy conducted the first signature beer challenge. This was a simple experiment where your hosts crafted two unique beers and unleashed them upon a handful of willing participants to review and ponder. The result, as you recall, was the naming of Jeremy's " The Cream Ale With Honey and Also With Ginger" and Dave's "Dolomite's Asshole".

How could you not call that a success?

In an effort to recreate that vibe, the Barkeeps headed to Fermentations on the Danforth and created two all original signature beers for a new round of challengers. Stepping up to the plate are two of our favourite bartenders, Brandi Robertson and Matthieu Rajchman. They brought their significant others with them (Ned and Saira, respectively) to round out what was a fun afternoon of sampling our two concoctions and finishing off with a sampling of a very special brew, the Westvleteren 12, one of the rarest on the planet.

Our thanks to Brandi, Ned, Matthieu and Saira for playing along.

Join Dave and Jeremy as they realize, quite late, that this is the Two Year Anniversary show.

Served up this episode is Sweetgrass Barrel Aged Red & White, Rogue's Voodoo Donut and Flying Monkeys Matador Version 2.0 El Toro Bravo. Off the menu is talking about movies, so the Barkeeps spend a lot of time talking about the Oscars.

They're also pretty tipsy...

DrinkAlong, don't drink alone and Happy Anniversary!

Recorded LIVE at the Social Capital Theatre on February 7, 2015.

This week Sean Fisher, Scott McCrickard and Dave Martin from The Guilty Pleasures podcast join Dave and Jeremy for a live show in front of a steamy audience.

We'll try some Cameron's Obsidian Imperial Porter and Rye Pale Ale and talk about, wha else, guilty pleasures. Try as we might... we can't seem to stay away from movies... so there's talk of those, too.

This is the first DrinkAlong to have Insane Clown Posse and Sir Paul McCartney. It might be the ONLY podcast with that line-up.

Still not sure if that's a good thing...

Alia Miller joins the Barkeeps on this episode... Not too much more to say about it... Sorry it's late!

We discuss Cask Days and romantic comedies and other follies... it's a fun time.

It's also a longer episode to reward those who've waited so long for our return!

Recorded on May 4, 2014, this episode explores the theme of Half & Half beverages (that's beverages mixed with other beverages to create a third beverage) with our very special guests, Melyssa Ade (Interstate 60, Jason X) and Kelly Manchester (How Do You See Toronto?, The Screamening).

This is a long one, but along the way, we're going to talk about some nerdy stuff (like buying signatures at conventions) some social stuff (like the seemingly new ressurgance of racism stories covered by the media) and some political stuff (like Rob Ford's chances in the mayoral election).

Again... this was May.  Treat it as a time capsule!  It was a simpler, warmer time!

We mix up some beer from Mill Street & Amsterdam Breweries and Thornbury Cider for this episode. This is the first time we also try some non-alcoholic beverages!

This starts and ends with an apology from Jeremy who can't hold his bourbon as well as he thought he could.

You make a podcast about drinking, you break a few eggs... into a glass and drink them the next morning.

Through it all, our guest Matthew Price from MAMO! is incredibly insightful, eloquant and tolerant as we discuss fatherhood, crying in movies and a bunch of stuff a couple of guys talk about when having a stiff drink.

And it's a long one, too... so enjoy.

If Doug Ford wins, the next one will feature Dave on a three day bender.

Episode Thirty Two - LIVE! at the SoCap Theatre

The Barkeeps are on the town, coming to you from the Social Capital Theatre.

Recorded live on October 4, 2014, they'll be drinking some Moosehead (for enjoyment and for a good cause) as well as Hop City's 8th Sin Black Lager.

And that's not all!

There'll be a surprise special guest from Modern Superior's own The Dew Over podcast, Tweet's of the Week, and the return of What Were They Drinking? Also, a jawdropping news-bomb about the future of DrinkAlong!!!

Special thanks to the thirsty few who came out on Nuit Blanche to share a couple rounds and win some prizes. We love you.

Special thanks to Gord on sound, Carmine on beer patrol, and Ralph on bar. We love you, too.

At the end of a long summer that was barely summer, our barkeeps find themselves at the cottage... relaxed... full of beer... and relaxed.

Join us for this smooth flowing, rain soaked, episode where we sample some Muskoka Harvest Ale and Lake of Bays Spark House and 10 Point IPA.

Along the way, we'll talk about the rigors of podcast sound, the faults of Zack Snyder, small Ontario towns and a very modest Drinkscapade.

Episode Thirty - The Fermentations Signature Beer Challenge

The long wait is finally over. After months of teasing and taunting, the Fermentations Signature Beer has been brewed.

To celebrate the occasion, the Barkeeps have invited Casey Lyons (See You Next Wednesday), Jamie Dew (The Dew Over) and Matt Brown (MAMO!).

Whether you're new to DrinkAlong, or an old friend, this episode has it all... It's the purest distilled version of "whatever a couple of guys talk about when they're sitting around just having a beer".*

Special thanks to Fermentations at 201 Danforth Ave in Toronto for their help with this episode. We WILL be back and we hope to see all of you there, brewing your own.

DrinkAlong, Don't Drink Alone.

Every few weeks or so we get a message that says "boy, you guys sound a little drunk at the end there..."

This week is no exception. This week raises the bar.

Join Dave and Jeremy as they talk about Gaurdians of the Galaxy, the DrinkAlong Beer Brew Challenge, trouble for craft beer in New Brunswick and Tim & Eric.

They drink Duvel Triple Hop, Hop City Brewing Co.'s Hopbot IPA and Beau's Matt's Sleepy Time Stout.

It's like an Belgian beer sandwich with a crisp American IPA middle. And the ABV is through the roof.

Sorry this one is late, someone got the flu. And soemone keep an eye on Ali...

In this episode we discovered that Jeremy doesn't know how to hit rec on the recorder... you think he would... he's a dumbass...

BUT we also talk to comedian Ryan Belleville and all is fine.  All is just fine.

We try some Amsterdam Tempest Stout and Downtown Brown (still dirty) with some Mill Street 100th Meridian to break it up.

Along the way we talk about Canadian TV and dog fucking and soccer... There's really too much to go into detail here.

Long story short... Download the episode and don't worry about it.

The War of the APA has begun!

This week the Barkeeps try some Naughty Neighbour by Nickel Brook and pair it with some Great Lakes Crazy Canuck.  Who will win? Does it matter? Do you even read these???

To top it off, they also try some Bell City Brewing's Eureka Cream Ale.

Along the way you'll hear about social experiments, many brain farts and our Asshole of the Week.  Also keep an ear open for our "Demon Wings" alarm. It's subtle.

Not much else to say but DrinkAlong, don't drink alone.

Recorded on May 29th, this episode is HOT off the press.

Hot, being the operative word. It's summer time and that mean's patio season is upon us like a fever. So what should you be enjoying in your backyard? The Barkeeps try three bottles that are brewed to SLAKE your thirst on a hot, sunny day.

Beau's All Natural Brewing Co.'s Patio Saison and Summer Festivale are on tap, as is Cameron's California Sunshine APA.

The Barkeeps also talk about the Craft Beer Passport, some World Pride related Drinkscapades, what YOU can do to end the madness at City Hall and guilty pleasure tv and movies.

Finally... FINALLY... We got Dan Gorman to sit down with us.  Finally.

In this episode the Barkeeps are joined by the co-host of Modern Superior's SEE YOU NEXT WEDNESDAY and TIME BANDITS for the episode that has it all.

We got Brimestone Brewing Company's Hail Mary Ale. We got Whistler Brewing Company's Creekamus Chai-Maple Ale. We got Old Yale Brewing's Sasquatch Stout.

Plus, the rare vintages, lots of movie and podcast talk and the return of Drinkscapades... or in this case, Drinkscapades: Origins.

ADDED BONUS: The pop-culture deconstruction of the secret hidden message in the DrinkAlong theme song.

Sit back... relax... pop open a cold one, and DrinkAlong, don't drink alone.

A classic episode from the depth of the DrinkAlong archives.

This is Episode Two, where Dave and Jeremy drink Collingwood Whiskey.

First aired in early 2013, this is really when the DrinkAlong formula started to gel. Still playing with the format and not entirely about craft beer, you can STILL hear enthusiasm in the lads voices. How the years do change a man!

Grab yourself a Collingwood Whiskey (or any whiskey) and enjoy this blast from the past.

And take notes. There'll be a test.

It's been too long to keep you good folks thirsty, so here's a couple of pints to start the Summer season.

The Barkeeps start with a few offerings from Nickel Brook. That goes as well as can be expected.

Then then try some Dead Elephant IPA from Railway City and rant about Mike Myers and the downfall of comedy.

In comes Sweetgrass to save the day.

Typical day in the DrinkAlong studio, to be honest. Featuring music by CitrusKiss.

Recorded LIVE at the Black Swan, the Barkeeps try a little Steamwhistle and Cameron's Auburn Ale in front of a humble, but appreciative, audience.

Navigating through a music trivia challenge, Booze in the News, Tweets of the Week and a new segment called "What Were They Drinking?", your hosts make the most of a warm spring evening, recording a live show above a bar with a live band.

Special thanks all around to those who were in attendance.  Stories will be told of that night, May 9th, 2014. Fortunately, it's here for you... LIVE... in all it's glory.

Today's Tastings: Granite Brewery's Peculiar, Sawdust City's Lone Pine IPA and Trafalgar's Smoked Oatmeal Stout.

Enjoyed with writer, actor and director, Matt Gorman.

We discuss beer, regional accents, Pope John Paul II and the inside scoop on dairy commercials.

It's more fun than it sounds and, thanks to the new DrinkAlong studio, it sounds pretty darn good.

Fun Fact: Many years ago there were three brothers who went by the name Belfry. Their goal was to make scary movies... but they never got around to it.

Now, for the first time EVER, they finish what they started!

Join Robyn Belfry (Jeremy), Cliff Belfry (David) and our very special guest, Basil Belfry AKA Actor, Improv Artist, Canadian Comedy Award Nominee (for Reid Along with Browning) and best bud, Sean Browning.

Listen as we sample some light beer and talk about farting in front your wife, being a stay-at-home father, and Colin, the young man sealed in the wall of the DrinkAlong studios.

It's inappropriate comedy and not suitable for young or sensitive viewers who cried at the end of Wreck-It Ralph.

Go Canada, Go.

Recorded the day after the Men's Hockey gold medal match! The Barkeeps rise to the occasion in a display of patroitism so profound it would have John A. Macdonald, Johnny Canuck and, oh... let's just say, Vindicator all green with envy.

They also try to stoke the flames of the biggest, baddest feud the internet has ever seen. [Think Rhihanna vs. Ciara, but EPIC]

Seriously... we took one for the team on this outing, so don't say we don't do anything for ya.

Fresh off the heels of a screening of the new RoboCop movie, the barkeeps are in deep with a review of the re-imagining of the film that they think everyone should have to see at least once.

To assist them, they pick up a couple cans of Double Trouble Brewing Company's Hops and Robbers IPA and Prison Break Pilsner.

Spoiler Alert... Nothing can dull the pain of watching your beloved franchise fall into the hands of amateur writers, directors and producers.

Part men. Part beer. All RoboCop.

The Barkeeps try a little Wellington Imperial Russian Stout with a side of Amsterdam's Vicar's Vice. Why? Because sometimes it's fun to try two 8% beverages back to back on a Sunday afternoon.

They talk about Barrie, Ontario and Mexicans and bad experiences dining out. They revisit what happens to you the day after you enjoy a Tom Green Milk Stout. RoboCop makes an appearence and there's not one but TWO Booze in the News stories.

Honestly... This episode is just the worst.

Final ratings did not make it to air, so you'll have to try these two brews and judge for yourself.  It's worth the effort.
